How an XOS rod is built. Three stages, no shortcuts.

Each blank starts as raw Toray carbon and ends in tournament hands. Nothing leaves the bench until it survives the test rack.

01 BLANK

Carbon Lay-Up.

High-modulus Toray T1100 prepreg laminated under 480°F press, mandrel-pulled to a 6'3" slow-pitch profile. Wall thickness tunes by section — soft tip, stiff butt, no dead zone.

02 WRAP

Acid-Wrapped Guides.

Fuji K-series titanium frames hand-wrapped on a true 60° acid spiral. Two-coat epoxy build, leveled on a 3 RPM dryer for 12 hours. Spiral routes the load past the blank's neutral axis — less torque, more direct power.

Tournament Pressure.

Every blank gets pulled to 1.5× rated load on the test rack. No QC sign-off without an offshore drop — minimum 200 feet, fish on, recovered clean. The first six finished blanks of a batch get fished by the crew before the rest go to inventory.
